ABOUT THIS

This blog is about my activities on amateur radio from my retirement location in Qulin, MO. I am active on 80m thru 6m (with the exception of 60m) with 95+% utilizing the digital FT4 and FT8 modes (FTx)
I upload to LoTW and Club Log at the end of every session on the air. I QSL 100% for all non-W/VE QSO's via the bureau - which I do once a year. W/VE are replied to direct - NO SASE required but appreciated. I do not upload to eQSL or QRZ.com

2025 ARRL Internation Digital Contest

I operated the ARRL IDC this weekend, and it was a decent contest.  The band was somewhat soft, but I did, IMHO, a decent showing.  10m was really poor with only 23 contacts made.  I did check it frequently, but most of the time it was closed down.  15m was just "OK", with some decent DX contacts made.  I made 38 contacts on that band.  While conditions were acceptable, there just wasn't a lot of signals to be heard there.  On 20m, I made 133 contacts and some decent DX contacts.  And 40m yielded 79 contacts and a couple really nice DX contacts as well.

Overall, I finished with a score of 1,375 which was down from last year.  My total number of contacts was almost identical, but points were down.  In 2023 my PPQ (Points per QSO) was 4.8, in 2024 it was 6.1, and this year it was 5.4.

I do enjoy this contest, and the next event will be the World Wide Digital DX Contest in August.  I hope that the band will be in better shape then.
