ABOUT THIS

This blog is about my activities on amateur radio from my retirement location in Qulin, MO. I am active on 80m thru 6m (with the exception of 60m) with 95+% utilizing the digital FT4 and FT8 modes (FTx)
I upload to LoTW and Club Log at the end of every session on the air. I QSL 100% for all non-W/VE QSO's via the bureau - which I do once a year. W/VE are replied to direct - NO SASE required but appreciated. I do not upload to eQSL or QRZ.com

DX Marathon Milestone Reached

Late last night I was doing the final work on the station configuration and decided to see if 20m FT8 was open.  It was - and I worked a couple "new ones" for the DX Marathon.  That brought me to 101 entities - literally working DXCC in 85 days!  Granted I don't have confirmations from all of them - 78 of them are confirmed by the way according to my log records.  So working DXCC in 85 days with a 78% QSL rate isn't too shabby IMHO.

General Update - 3/25/25

I have been negligent in updating this page, but I have been focusing on 20m POTA for the past month in order to get the next level of confirmed parks.  However, I have updated my totals for all the major awards that I am pursuing.  I did remove the tracking for the DX Trident and the WAS Triple Play awards as CW is a lower priority mode that I will not be actively pursuing at this time.  If at a later day, I do decide to pursue it, I will re-instate that tracking.  For now, I will be 95% digital and 5% phone.

I have "repaired" my HF antenna system and will be adding to it in the coming month with a dedicated 30m and 80m Hamstick.  I retuned the 20m Hamstick and now can operate it on FTx without a tuner and at full power on the radio.  I will do that for the rest of them as well so I can up my power to make better DX contacts.  I am about 98% done with the overall reconfiguration of the shack/living room.  Just need to do a few tweaks to everything.
